Epidemiology in Nursing And Health care Second Edition
The book is divided into three sections. Section I-Chapters 1 through 6-covers the basic concepts and methods of epidemiology. These chapters include such concepts as natural history of disease, levels of prevention, and causality. General methods including epidemiological measures, study de signs, sources of data, and critical appraisal of epidemiological studies are introduced here. The methods content is equivalent to that of other introductory epidemiological texts in common use, but specialized methodological issues are integrated throughout the remainder of the book where applicable to the topic of discussion, rather than covered in separate methods chapters. Thus the methods are discussed in the context of use. Separate chapters in Section I address the natural history, measurement, and methodological considerations relevant to the study and control of infectious and noninfectious disease.
