Undertaking Midwifery Research : A Basic Guide to Design And Analysis
The main emphasis of this book is experimental research methodology. The reasons for this are two-fold. Firstly, there is a demand for midwifery research which involves comparison - of treatment procedures, of effectiveness of inter-ventions, of responses of different women. The experimental method is central to this comparative approach to research. Secondly, there are several texts already on the market which address survey methods, interviews, questionnaires and other qualitative techniques in health care research, while relatively few deal with experimental designs. This book hopefully will fill the gap. However, this is not to suggest that I consider experimental methods superior to other research approaches.
